Knoxville rejects Nazis and Klan.
Saturday May 26th the VNN Vanguard Nazi/KKK group attempted to host a hate rally to try to take advantage of the brutal murder of a white couple for media and recruitment purposes. http://www.volunteertv.com/special
Unfortunately for them the 100th ARA (Anti Racist Action) clown block came and handed them their asses by making them appear like the asses they were.
Alex Linder the founder of VNN and the lead organizer of the rally kicked off events by rushing the clowns in a fit of rage, and was promptly arrested by 4 Knoxville police officers who dropped him to the ground when he resisted and dragged him off past the red shiny shoes of the clowns. http://www.volunteertv.com/home/headlines/7704982.html
“White Power!” the Nazi’s shouted, “White Flour?” the clowns yelled back running in circles throwing flour in the air and raising separate letters which spelt “White Flour”.
“White Power!” the Nazi’s angrily shouted once more, “White flowers?” the clowns cheers and threw white flowers in the air and danced about merrily.
“White Power!” the Nazi’s tried once again in a doomed and somewhat funny attempt to clarify their message, “ohhhhhh!” the clowns yelled “Tight Shower!” and held a solar shower in the air and all tried to crowd under to get clean as per the Klan’s directions.
At this point several of the Nazi’s and Klan members began clutching their hearts as if they were about to have a heart attack. Their beady eyes bulged, and the veins in their tiny narrow foreheads beat in rage. One last time they screamed “White Power!”
The clown women thought they finally understood what the Klan was trying to say. “Ohhhhh…” the women clowns said. “Now we understand…”, “WIFE POWER!” they lifted the letters up in the air, grabbed the nearest male clowns and lifted them in their arms and ran about merrily chanting “WIFE POWER! WIFE POWER! WIFE POWER!”
It was at this point that several observers reported seeing several Klan members heads exploding in rage and they stopped trying to explain to the clowns what they wanted.
Apparently the clowns fundamentally misunderstood the nature of the rally, they believed it was a clown rally and came in force to support their pointy hated brethren. To their dismay, despite their best jokes and stunts and pratfalls the Nazis and Klan refused to laugh, and indeed became enraged at the clowns misunderstanding and constant attempts to interpret the clowns instruction.
The clowns on the other hand had a great time and thought the Nazis were the funniest thing they had ever seen and the loud laughter of over 100 counter protesters greeted every attempt of the Nazis and Klan to get their message out, whatever that was.
Many of the local Knoxvillians that came to counter demonstrate had no illusions about why these out of state bad clowns with swastikas were doing in their town.
“KKK YOU CAN’T HIDE, WE CHARGE YOU WITH GENOCIDE!”
“GAY, STRAIGHT, BLACK, WHITE ONE STRUGGLE ONE FIGHT!”
“U.G.L.Y. KLAN YOU AIN’T GOT NO ALIBI, YOU UGLY, YOU UGLY”
Were just a few of the chants that the non clown counter protesters rained down upon the Nazis. The clowns interacted with the non clown protesters with glee and even participated in a chant or two, though apparently with no idea that the Nazis were indeed not clowns thinking it was just part of the show.
In the end the 20 or so sad VNNers left with their tails between their legs. At this point over 150 counter demonstraters were present. The clowns seeing how dejected and sad the Nazi’s looked began singing to cheer them up.
“hey hey hey hey, ho ho ho ho—good bye, good bye” everyone sang waving their arms in the air in unison.
After the VNNers left in their shiny SUVs to go back to Alabama and all the other states that they were from the clowns and counter demonstrators began to march out of the area chanting ‘WHOSE STREETS? OUR STREETS!”
But the cops stopped the clowns and counter protestors. “Hey, do you want an escort” an African-American police officer on a motorcycle asked. “Yes” a clown replied. “We are walking to Market Square in the center of town to celebrate.”
The police officers got in front of the now anti racist parade and blocked the entire road for the march through the heart of Knoxville. An event called imagination station was taking place and over 15,000 thousand students and their parents were in town that weekend. Many of them cheered as the clowns, Knoxvillians and counter protestors marched through the heart of Knoxville singing and laughing at the end of the Nazi’s first attempt at having a rally in Knoxville.
On June 16th the Stormfront Nazis are trying to have a second rally in Knoxville. Clowns, anarchist, activist and others are all invited to come and creatively and nonviolently help us confront these Nazis and give them an even bigger counter rally than the first. Thanks to Three Rivers Earth First!, Mountain Justice Summer, Katuah Earth First!, Knoxville Anti Racist Action, Katuah Anti Racist Action and the clown block for utterly wrecking the failed attempt of the Nazis to get a foothold in Knoxville. In one day Three Rivers Earth First!ers posted over 1000 anti racist fliers all over Knoxville recruiting people to come, this is just one example of all the work and effort that went in to creatively and nonviolently rejecting the VNNers out of Knoxville.

A true revealing of the American spirit. I wept when the cop asked if they needed an escort through town. What an amazing story! I know many people will think it is just fun and games, but the more we can beat back hatred, then we can take our country back from these fools. If you liked this story, please do not vote for Ron Paul. Ron Paul is an isolationist. Confused, uninformed people see this as a good trait. I see it and know it for what it really is, white supremacy. I am a proud white male, and with the way that white men have run the country up until now, we need a change, we need a true leader. Vote with your head and heart not with your party.

This is the way to go !. Don´t take them seriously, don´t fight them and mirror how they are. I´m white, blonde and blue eyed scandinavian. I don´t feel any kind of superiority and I can´t Imagine why I would. I have had amazing African, Asian, American and scandinavian friends and teachers. They were all different but what I noticed was that it´s a mixture their peronality and their community background not their race that makes them who they are. Maybe that´s the problem with racists and that´s why I´m happy to see things like these.
p.s. On another note. There are people with interests in those groups that prey on young minds that have been through a lot, recruiting them and filling their minds with propaganda. They need our patience and help.
When an organization like the KKK steps forward to secure a place for white America, why do you support the ones trying to destroy it? Seriously, did you know that most black hate whites, yet when they protest does anyone counter protest them? Did anyone protest the million man march? A rally whose admited purpose was to further the black agenda. Black leaders get up in arms because they are no longer the largest racial minority and that means less welfare?
Why is it okay for a black man to be proud to be black, but when I'm proud to be white I'm racist? And I'll tell you what, I am racist. That was a great story. Intolerance cannot be accepted nor allowed to grow in America. This was a great response to the legions of hate forming. Whether it is NAZI's, intolerant Religious Right bigots like the evangelicals who hate Gays, or other hatemongers, they must be stopped. I hope more civic reponses like this become more common. We have our own problems with hateful Russian Evangelicals teaming with American evangelical bigots here in Sacramento persecuting the Gay community and our ethnic friends. They have even murdered one young man for his gayness and race. I'd love to see a force like The Clowns stop this scourge here. A wonderful story!

Using the death of two teenagers for PR and recruitment purposes is just awful. *period* I think all groups that would rally to make a point that they are somehow better because of thier color is stupid. While I commend the actions taken by the people within this story, I have to say...this is some of the shittiest reporting I have read in a long time. Either report, or blog- do not combine. Be subjective or be objective. Pick one.
Wonderful action. A note to the author - your enthusiasm is understandable and commendable, but you really needed to take a few minutes to proofread this and think about what you were trying to communicate in addition to enthusiasm.
I don't agree with the previous commenter's assertion that journalism must always be either completely subjective or completely objective, but to mix the two takes skill and balance. If you can't or won't put the time in to work that balance, then, yeah, best to choose one or the other.
While I appreciated reading an account of the day, this line in particular... Nevermind the unnecessary "at this point" or two uses of the word "several," I highly doubt that people were "reporting" heads exploding in rage. That's not a report, that's a metaphorical description of an opinion.
Of course, this touches on the complexity of what inymedia is - is it an activist message board, or is it actually a news outlet? At any rate, the point is that all activism is essentially communication, so this stuff needs to be taken seriously.

insecurity is the root of racism. low self esteem leads to racism in the weak minded. it is sad but true. it is the same with nationalism. why would you want your country to dominate another just because you happened to be born there? by belittling others the feeble minded feel elevated themselves. it is sad but true...oh, i nearly forgot, thanks to clowns and those who love, wherever you shall dwell.
Yeah ok racism is bad...I got. So do the majority of Americans. What I have a problem with is the reference to Alabama. Why do the KKK/Neo-Nazis have to be from there? I was born and raised in the Great state of Alabama and I am not a racist, nor are any of my friends. Granted the south may have a larger percentage of the racist population, but let's not come down on ourselves guys. Racism is everywhere. Including Tennessee.
Hey yall I wrote the above article and a few quick comments.
I wrote this as an off the cuff update to an obscure indymedia site which several of my friends read who are active in the anti racist movement. I literally first drafted it into the form box without any edits.
I am aware it could use redrafting--but it was never intended to be more than a quick report back.
I never knew it would generate so much interest--so much that its actually slowed down the site. The indymedia folks thought it was an denial of service attack by the KKK until they saw that digg had made it a top 10 story.
Oh--one of the main factions of the KKK we have been resisting in Tennessee is from Alabama. No offense to non racist Alabamians--but the over all point is these people were not from Tennessee--they came here to my home town to exploit a brutal murder.
Last point--the next rally they had we switched tactics because we knew they would come prepared for clowns (they were). Instead we brought a kickin sound system and played MLK speeches, Stevie Wonder, black soul ballads and open miked--its drove them insane. In fact you can listen to their recordings of their rally and here MLK clearly in the back ground as they tried to get their hate on.
In fact one of the KKK lueless got so angry that he choked up. He began ranting about how he had to argue with the police to bring his sound system, and he was going to start coming to our rallies with a bull horn--he got so mad that he choked up and began crying.
Then another nazi grabbed the mike from him and began yelling "yeah brother! yeah!".
So much for rounding all of us "mud people" up and putting us in death camps.

A. Ron Paul wants true freedom for us, not white supremacy so that was a pretty moronic statement. Not once has he denounced minorities. By the way, we're all immigrants unless you're native american so to think we're the original humans in this crapheep of a country is yet another moronic statement.
B. To the racist guy, man, where are you from, Georgia? We are all human beings. Not white, not black, blah blah blah. We all have the same condition which needs healing. One of the main problems with our race is obsessive pride. Go America!! Go women!! Go Blacks!! Go puerto ricans!! Go third reich!! See, that's our problem here. i do think that perhaps in a different space nazis could be treated with compassion-- on a one on one basis --- to help them unfold where this learned inner hatred and insecurity manifested --- i think that they can be healed
BUT -- in the meantime -- when nazis invade your home turf to publicly preach hate and violence --- actions like these are important because they show the public and the nazis that there is an open resistence to this type of demonstration -- and of domination.
using humor is a brilliant tactic--- that works to diffuse the situation.
i think some people who were not involved in the planning process of this protest aren't really getting where the clowns were coming from and may want to seek some diversity/ anti- oppression trainings or dialogues on their own time.
and personally-- i would never protest a black power rally --- b/c african americans are still oppressed --- i don't want to act like i know what a black person feels (b/c i'm not) but the backlash against white domination seems understandable to me --- more so than nazism--- not to legitimize any type of racism--- but yeah---
oh and by the way--- in case you didn't know-- race is not biological--- race is a social construct used to dominate people economically--- so fuck it---
one more thing--- if we are going to survive as a civilization--- we're gonna have to rise above this separation -- we're going to have to learn to love our neighbors and create real community --- honestly, i don't think the nazis are going to make it :)

While I commend the actions taken by the people within this story, I have to say...this is some of the shittiest reporting I have read in a long time. Either report, or blog- do not combine. Be subjective or be objective. Pick one.

sometimes people act stupid, and do stupid things, lots of black, white, spanish and many other organizations do really great things for communities, the KKK in Ga have done some really good, non-racist things for the community, but at the same time they do promote racism, I believe racism is more ignorant the sun is bright, but I must agree, that people as a whole enable this.
I think that it is the time to start eliminating all racially biased laws, IE. so called "equal opportunity employment" and many others.
as most of you know, equal opportunity employment is primarily for African Americans, and I believe that it is time for that to go.
and oh yeah, the the "KLOWNS KICK KASS" wohoo, even though I may believ in a few different things that y'all clowns (I'm not really all that sure), you all rock, and I hope that you continue, and inspire more people to do he same thing...

Someone asked if the KKK hadn't learned from the Hitler regime. Oh, they have. They've learned that sheeple respond to the loudest voice they hear, even if that voice is espousing insanity. They've learned that a charismatic madman with a lot of enthusiasm can get the vote, lead the country, murder in the millions, and make a shockingly effective world power grab. Make now mistake, WWII was a close one, largely because people (cough cough US cough) don't like to get involved in what they see as someone else's fight.
I do think it's okay to be proud of your heritage...at least the good bits. I am personally quite proud to be half Irish. the other half is German...and even though we left long before Germany went gonzo nutso, that whole little two world wars in one century thing rather thoroughly truncated the pride-in-heritage. And maybe that's how it should be. Maybe the best lasting punishment of atrocity is the utter abandonment of that legacy by its more reasoning descendants. And that should be regardless of race....every proud culture has done something horrible in its time. The humble ones, I'm not so sure about.
On a side note, let me just say Yay Iowa! for attempting to progress with gay marriage (see, zombies can spell, we just prefer not to). And also, YAY SET!! *waves tiny flag*
