SOCIALIST PARTY USA CANDIDATE QUALIFIES AS WRITE-IN CANDIDATE IN NORTH CAROLINA

Write-in BRIAN MOORE For President

The Socialist Party USA announces that their Presidential candidate, Brian Moore, and Vice Presidential candidate, Stewart Alexander, have achieved write-in status in North Carolina.

For a candidate for President to have his/her name printed on a ballot, he/she must collect petition signatures from registered voters. Every state has different requirements. For example in North Carolina, the state board of elections requires a candidate to collect 69,734 signatures, over a period of just a few months, before his/her name is printed on a ballot for President. These regulations are set by the state legislature and subsequently Democratic and Republican candidates do not have to collect signatures to ensure that their Presidential candidates are listed on the ballot.
The only other option for "third party" or "alternative" Presidential candidates is write-in status. In many states, a candidate only has to collect a few hundred signatures to qualify as a write-in candidate. This means that if a voter writes the candidate's name on a ballot, the state board of elections will count that vote.
America has a two-party political system, but third-party candidates have played an enormous role in American elections and American life. Third-parties frequently identify new concerns among voters, and put them front and center on the American agenda.

Theodore Roosevelt, Robert LaFollette, Eugene Debs, Henry Wallace, Strom Thurmond, George Wallace, John Anderson and Ross Perot did not win the Presidency, but for good or for ill, they were important in shaping 20th Century America. (Arguably, one third-party candidate did win the Presidency: Abraham Lincoln).

In America, we can choose from dozens of different brands/models when purchasing cars, computers, beer, potato chips etc., but WHY DO WE ONLY GET TWO CHOICES FOR PRESIDENT? Moreover, we routinely go to the polls to vote for the "lesser of two evils." Does this make sense?

Don't let the corporate media tell you how you should vote. Don't let polling companies convince you that there is no point, because the person you support has no hope of winning.

Every vote counts! No vote is a "wasted vote." Your opinion counts, don't let anyone tell you it doesn't. Review Brian Moore's website, www.votebrianmoore.com, and decide for yourself.
